Porcelain and wooden vase with a moss glaze
A half slip-cast and half lathe turned vase, decorated with a traditional Chinese porcelain glaze and moss and lichen from the Cairngorms. The two parts are stitched together with a thread.
Dimensions:
MOSS & LICHEN
This is pot n. 4 from my series On the Pot’s Road. The first one that is half ceramic, half wood. All the wood was once a living tree in the Dundee Botanic Garden. Over the last while, some of the trees fell during the many storms that pass through the area, others got cut down due to infections or safety. Through art and making, I gave them a second life as vessels. By bringing these pots back to the Botanic Garden for our Branching Out exhibition, their life goes on.
