Porcelain vase with a mica schist glaze

£175.00

Materials: Porcelain, mica schist rock, traditional Chinese porcelain glaze

Dimensions: H17cm 18×18cm

Exhibited at: DJCAD Degree Show 2024 (Dundee), Branching Out (Dundee Botanic Garden), SSA Annual Exhibition (RSA, Edinburgh)

A half slip-cast and half hand-built porcelain pot, decorated with a traditional Chinese porcelain glaze and a rock from the Cairngorms.

This object is part of my series On the Pot’s Road where I crossed the Cairngorms and collected materials along the way to create an installation of porcelain pots that carry a story of the landscape. This pot was partly slip-cast and partly hand-built. It was a risk to try handbuilding on an already slipc-ast piece, but it worked and created the desired effect of repetition.
