Materials: Porcelain, charred wood, waxed cord, traditional Chinese porcelain glaze
Dimensions: H24.5cm 18×18cm
Exhibited at: DJCAD Degree Show 2024 (Dundee), Branching Out (Dundee Botanic Garden), Class of ‘24 (Scottish Ceramics Gallery, Aberdeen)
A half slip-cast and half lathe turned vase, decorated with a traditional Chinese porcelain glaze and moss from the Cairngorms. The two parts are stitched together with a waxed cord.
I glazed this piece with moss and lichen ash that I collected as I was looking for shelter from 90 km/h winds after I crossed the Lairig Ghru. Luckily, I was going with the wind, otherwise I would probably still be under that rock.
